My Approach

The mission of Self Matters Counselling is to provide therapy and health-related services to adults with the goal to enhance healing and to promote thriving and optimal living. My approach considers biology, psychology, and socio-cultural components that may be influencing both the creation and maintenance of existing mental health challenges.

I believe:

  • that counselling is normal and healthy

  • the counselling process can be very powerful

  • trust, safety and collaboration are the foundation of therapy

  • the client understands their unique experiences the best

  • the client determines their goals of therapy

  • my clients have unique culture and diversity considerations that must be respected

  • my practice should be evidence-based and grounded in current science and research

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
